My mother always taught me to be polite
to say “please” and “thank you.”
Other people have taught me that I am not pretty
that I am strange -
long pink hair and crooked teeth
a cigarette dangling from my index and middle finger
eyes narrowing at passers by
leaving a ring of red…
“You have people come into your life shockingly and surprisingly. You have losses that you never thought you’d experience. You have rejection and you have learn how to deal with that and how to get up the next day and go on with it.”
Happiness isn’t a constant. You get fleeting glimpses. You have to fight for those moments, but they make it all worth it.
and time is taking its sweet time erasing you
MY MOM JUST TOLD ME TO CREMATE HER AND PUT HER ASHES IN AN HOUR GLASS SO THAT EVEN AFTER SHE’S DEAD AND GONE SHE CAN CONTINUE TELLING ME HOW MUCH TIME I’M WASTING.

Taylor Swift + floor-length red dresses.
Versions of love that weren’t the love. Love mixed with infatuation. Love mixed with comfort and settling. Love mixed with a dangerous level of mind games. Love mixed with too much competition. When there are too many negative emotions, you come out of it and the dust settles and you categorize it as something other than love. I need to live in a world where my best love is ahead of me, not behind me.
"I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice. How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that I've never written them before and to a sonic backdrop that I've never explored before? It’s my fifth album, which is crazy to think about, but I think what I’m noticing about it so far is it’s definitely taking a different turn than anything I've done before."
